Whereas, in October we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which was established in 1945, when Congress declared the first week in October each year “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week, and
Whereas, this year’s official National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme will be “America’s Workforce: Empowering All,” and while celebrations are important, it is more important that this is not simply symbolic but that we ensure that job and career opportunities are made equally available to everyone, and that workplaces are made truly accessible and jobs are offered on ability, not perception.
Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Riverside County Democratic Party re-commits to protecting the rights of all Americans in the workplace, including making sure that those who are disabled are not disqualified, and
Be It Further Resolved, that a copy of this resolution be sent to the California Democratic Party.
