Why Would Donald Trump
Hold a Rally in Coachella?
His Platform Is an Attack on the Very People Who Call It Home
Riverside, CA –This Saturday, Donald Trump will hold a rally in the city of Coachella—a community where over 97% of the population is Latino and whose values of diversity, compassion, and inclusion stand in stark contrast to everything he represents. The Riverside County Democratic Party questions why a candidate whose policies have repeatedly harmed Latino families and other vulnerable communities would choose to hold a rally in a city so clearly at odds with his agenda.
Coachella is a diverse community, where families work hard to build a better future. Many of these people have borne the brunt of Trump’s cruel immigration policies, from children being torn from their parents’ arms at the border to families—including some American citizens—living in fear of being swept up as part of a mass deportation. Trump’s platform, clearly spelled out in the proposed Project 2025, threatens to tear apart the very fabric of this community with plans to cut Medicaid, roll back the Affordable Care Act, and eliminate crucial programs like Head Start—all of which disproportionately impact Latino and working-class families.
Why would Trump come to a place like Coachella, where his promise of mass deportation and militarized enforcement strikes fear into the hearts of so many residents? His vision of a future where unions are dismantled, wages are suppressed, and American immigrant communities are targeted for “denaturalization” is not the future that the people of Coachella want or deserve.
Coachella stands as a symbol of resilience and unity—a place where families, workers, and students come together to build a better, fairer future. Trump’s policies have only served to harm these efforts, and his presence here is nothing more than a disruption to a community that has long rejected his politics of division and fear.
The Riverside County Democratic Party proudly stands with the people of Coachella and the entire Coachella Valley in support of the values of justice, equality, and opportunity for all—values that are fundamentally at odds with Trump’s agenda. His rally may come and go, but our community’s fight for a better future will continue long after his divisive rhetoric fades.
